Bhubaneswar:
Concerns over fuel availability have sparked political debate in Odisha after long queues were seen outside petrol pumps in several areas, including parts of Bhubaneswar. While the state government has maintained that there is no shortage of petrol or diesel, visuals from fuel stations have raised questions among the public.
State Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra stated that adequate fuel stock is available and there is no reason for panic. However, opposition voices and citizens have pointed to temporary closures of several petrol pumps and unusually long waiting lines as evidence of supply-related concerns.
The situation comes shortly after public anxiety around LPG availability in some regions, adding to wider discussions over essential commodity management during periods of uncertainty.
At several fuel stations, vehicle owners were seen waiting for extended periods to refill petrol and diesel. Social media posts and local reports further amplified concerns, with many questioning the gap between official statements and ground-level experiences.
Political observers note that fuel-related issues tend to generate immediate public reaction due to their direct impact on daily life and transportation.
The state government has urged people not to panic, while fuel station operators continue to monitor supply and demand conditions. As the debate intensifies, the focus remains on whether the current situation is temporary logistical pressure or an indication of deeper supply concerns.
