Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who is visiting Tamil Nadu, said that a positive change is needed in the lives and mindset of mothers. He praised the efforts of companies like KPR Mill, which are helping women, especially from Odisha, become strong and independent.
Shri Pradhan visited KPR Mill, one of India’s top garment manufacturers in Coimbatore, and spoke with many women employees working there. He appreciated their hard work and the way the company is supporting them in building better futures.
He said, “KPR Mill is not just making clothes. It is changing lives through innovation, technology, and social responsibility.” He added that the company gives women a chance to complete their education while working, which is helping them grow and take charge of their careers.
“KPR Mill is a great example of how businesses can help women succeed in manufacturing, engineering, and education,” the Minister said. “It has shown how companies can invest not only in money but also in people.”
Many of the women working at KPR Mill are from Odisha. They shared their stories with the Minister about how their lives have changed since joining the company. Shri Pradhan said that such efforts are empowering women and promoting women-led development in the country.
Apart from visiting the mill, Shri Pradhan also had important meetings with educationists, industrialists, and thinkers from Coimbatore and Tiruppur. They discussed how education, innovation, and entrepreneurship can help India’s growth.
He also spoke about the National Education Policy (NEP) and how it is helping improve learning across the country. He discussed using the mother tongue in education, a credit system for students, and ideas to shape India’s future through education.
Shri Pradhan will attend the 7th convocation of IIT Palakkad on July 19, where he will address students and share his thoughts on India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation by 2047.
