Bhubaneswar: A single dialogue by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi has stirred political tensions across the state. During a recent event in Nuapada, Majhi declared that even if the culprits of the Police SI recruitment scam were hiding in the underworld, his government would track them down and ensure their arrest.

This statement has ignited a heated debate in Odisha politics. The SI recruitment scam syndicate is reportedly linked to the Chief Minister’s office, with the alleged kingpin Shankar Prusti reportedly having close ties. Photographs showing Shankar Prusti with Mohan Majhi have also fueled speculation about the depth of these connections.

Over the past 16 months of Mohan Majhi’s tenure, law and order in Odisha has reportedly deteriorated, reaching alarming levels of corruption and irregularities. Despite this, the state BJP had been supporting Mohan Majhi until now. However, for the first time, in the wake of the SI recruitment scam, no BJP leader or minister has openly defended the Chief Minister.

Political advisors like Manoj Mahapatra have also remained silent after being released from scrutiny, leaving Majhi without visible allies to counter the growing criticism. This has reportedly led to frustration among BJP workers and supporters across the state.

In this context, Odisha BJP’s apparent withdrawal of support for Mohan Majhi has become a major talking point in political circles, raising questions about the party’s future strategy and the Chief Minister’s standing within his own political network.
