Will BJD Support the No-Confidence Motion Against BJP? Odisha Politics Heats Up

BJD brings the motion and Congress will support, or Congress brings it and expects BJD’s support.

Will ‘Shankha’ and ‘Haath’ Join Hands?

In a major political development in Odisha, PCC President Bhakta Charan Das has proposed that a no-confidence motion should be brought against the BJP government led by CM Mohan Majhi in the upcoming Assembly session. But what has triggered a political storm is that Bhakta Das has called upon the BJD and its leader, Naveen Patnaik, to support or bring this motion themselves.

Now, all eyes are on Naveen Patnaik. Will he act like a real Opposition Leader or stay silent to protect old ties with the BJP?

BJD in a Tight Spot

The Congress party seems to be putting pressure on the BJD. Bhakta Das has said very clearly—either BJD brings the motion and Congress will support, or Congress brings it and expects BJD’s support. This puts the ball in Naveen Patnaik’s court.

If BJD is serious about women’s safety and governance failures under the BJP, this is the moment to act. But if they avoid the motion, it might prove what many critics have been saying for long—that BJD and BJP are silently working together behind the scenes.

Is Congress Setting a Trap?

Political observers believe that this could be a well-planned tactical move by Congress, especially leaders like Bhakta Das and Srikant Jena, to break the hidden alliance between BJD and BJP. They are forcing BJD to take a public stand: either join hands with Congress to bring down the BJP government or be exposed as a “friendly opposition.”

Will ‘Shankha’ and ‘Haath’ Join Hands?

This is now the biggest question in Odisha politics:
Will BJD (Shankha symbol) and Congress (Haath symbol) come together to challenge BJP’s (Kamal) rule?

The next Assembly session will reveal whether Naveen Patnaik chooses to fight the BJP or protect old political equations.

As a political observer, I believe:

“In politics, real intentions are not in speeches, but in actions. The no-confidence motion will test the true face of Odisha’s opposition.”
