Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) today evening announced its candidate for the upcoming Nuapada by-election. Party President Naveen Pattnaik announced a crucial meeting held earlier in the day. Snehaṅgini Churia has been nominated as the BJD candidate.
The announcement comes amid visible political activity by various parties in the region. The by-election is scheduled to take place on November 11, and the nomination process is currently ongoing.
Today, Congress candidate Ghasiram Majhi filed his nomination, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Jay Dholkia is expected to submit his nomination tomorrow.
Ahead of the official candidate declaration, Naveen Patnaik had convened an important discussion at his residence, summoning senior party leaders to deliberate on the by-election strategy. Among those present was Manoj Mishra, a member of the BJD local action committee for Nuapada.
