Bhubaneswar: In a noteworthy political development ahead of the New Year, some of the defeated and dissatisfied BJD leaders met in Bhubaneswar under the guise of a “friendship gathering.” The meeting, which included prominent leaders like Damodar Rout, Praful Ghadai, and Prabhat Tripathy, has sparked discussions across Odisha media about whether this signals a potential challenge to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s leadership or the formation of a new political alignment within the party.
However, Rajendra Sahu, who attended the gathering, clarified that there was no intention to involve the media or stir political controversy. He stated that the meeting was purely a New Year get-together.
Despite these assurances, political observers are questioning whether the gathering of these leaders could mark the beginning of intra-party dissent or a shift in BJD’s internal power dynamics. So far, no concrete challenge has emerged to Naveen Patnaik’s authority, leaving political watchers to speculate about the future implications of this assembly.
