Bhubaneswar: Odisha politics has taken a sharp turn this week after BJP leader and former minister Samir Ranjan Dash made strong public remarks about the functioning of the Mohan Majhi government. His comments have triggered statewide debate and intense discussions inside political circles.

Speaking openly in Nimapada, Samir Dash alleged that in the last 17 months, government work has been happening only through what he described as a “PC system”. According to him, during the earlier 15-year period, many official works were carried out without such practices, but the current government has not maintained the same standard. He also expressed dissatisfaction that even though media personnel are aware of the situation, they are not reporting it adequately.

Political observers noted that Samir Dash’s statements indirectly pointed towards Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida as well. However, his comments have also brought wider questions on the overall character of the Mohan Majhi administration, at least in terms of public perception.

These remarks gained even more attention because a few days earlier, PCC President Bhakta Charan Das had also made serious allegations regarding sand and stone mining activities, claiming that influential people were involved. Those statements were denied by the ruling side, but the issue remained alive in public discourse.

Now, with Samir Dash speaking out from within the BJP itself, the controversy has taken a new direction. Many political analysts believe that such internal criticism could impact the government’s image at a crucial time, especially when debates on transparency and governance are already intense in the state.

The coming days will show whether Samir Dash’s comments will lead to corrective steps within the government or result in deeper political friction. But one thing is clear: Odisha’s political climate has become extremely charged, and this debate is far from over.
